CANCELLATION

It is with great regret that the WANTZ Committee advises of the cancellation of the WANTZ Committee dinner on August 28th.

There is such uncertainty in the community with the spread of the delta strain of the Covid virus that the Committee feels it has no other option.

We are delighted to say that it will be deferred to August 2022 where we hope to have your support once again.

The WANTZ Committee will support MND and Me Foundation in 2022. We have given our pledge to purchase as many NeuroNode Systems as we can to help MND patients to continue to communicate for as long as possible.

If you have already purchased you ticket it will be refunded in the next 10 days. If you do not receive your refund please contact Jane Milne, CEO MND and Me Foundation on 33945333.

Our sincere thanks to you in your support of the WANTZ Committee, and in so doing, helping those in need in our community.

 

The WANTZ Committee was established in 2003 in response to a need in the community to help in a very practical way. The name WANTZ is an acronym of the names of the five original committee members, and it also represents what the committee does - every year the WANTZ Committee chooses a charity organization to support and fundraises for equipment the chosen charity has on its 'WANTZ Wish List'. Each year to date the WANTZ Committee has raised an increasing amount, with the sum total amount of over $2,000,000 raised from 2003 to 2019, but only with the very generous and continuing support of our Sponsors, donors and guests without whom this would not have been possible.

In 2020/21 the WANTZ Committee is proudly supporting MND and Me Foundation which supports people and their families living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in Queensland. The Foundation delivers support programs and funds research into treatments and a cure for MND.

The WANTZ Committee had decided to cancel its gala dinner at the Customs House in August 2020 because of the impact Coronavirus has had on our community. The gala dinner will now be held on 28th August 2021 instead. WANTZ Committee is well on its way to purchasing a NeuroNode System and its fundraising for more of these devices will also continue into 2021.

Thank you everyone for your wonderful sponsorship and support of the WANTZ Committee in its support of MND & Me Foundation during 2020 and 2021, specifically in fundraising to purchase NeouroNode Systems to aid in communication for people with MND.With your help MND and Me Foundation are continually improving the level of care to Queenslanders impacted by MND and contributing to research so one day we can live in a world without Motor Neurone Disease.

 

HOW ARE WE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER CHARITIES?

  • ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of all funds donated goes directly to the charity we are supporting.
  • We pay no wages or honorariums.
  • Postage costs are donated by one of our key partners.
  • Committee members volunteer all their time (and energy).

We are in need of the generous support of Sponsors who can assist us with our fundraising to buy urgently required items of equipment. With the generosity and continuing support of our Sponsors, the valuable work of this organization can continue with the maximum effectiveness.

Each year the culmination of the WANTZ Committee's fundraising every year has been a spectacular dinner, where guests have included leading members of Brisbane's medical, legal, banking, government and business communities.
